About Taos Soil and Water Conservation District

DCJacobs Feb2017webMr. Jacobs is Taos SWCD's Watershed and Water Quality consultant.  David is a geologist with over 35 years of experience in industry and academia.  He received a B.A. and M.A. in geology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Ph. D. in geology from the University of Utah.  He has been involved in mineral, geothermal, and petroleum research and exploration, as well as environmental research and assessment.  Most of this work was done while employed as a geologist with Geodata Systems, Inc., Comino American, Conoco Inc., Unocal Corp., Molycorp, Inc., and Chevron Corp.  He also taught undergratuate geology courses for seven years at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, California, and at California State University, Fullerton.  After retiring in 2010 as a senior geologist at Chevron Mining Company's Questa mine, he has consulted part-time for various mining companies, government agencies, and private individuals, and most recently has been involved in groundwater-related studies in Taos County.
